Towards Organic Asia envisions organic agriculture as the means to strengthen the spirit of community, economic sufficiency, and care for the Earth.
A holistic and integrated approach to organic agriculture as not only a food production system, but that encompasses the interdependencies between agriculture and traditional culture, self sufficiency, sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, food and seed sovereignty. Towards Organic Asia is working to promote organic agriculture beyond certified organic as the heart of social transformation.
Our mission is to strengthen the organic network in Asia among diverse stakeholders, which will promote common understanding and cooperation in agroecology and social wellbeing. Towards Organic Asia will contribute to developing dynamic Asian models of agroecology for influencing policy and inspiring a wider movement within the region and beyond.
Towards Organic Asia programme has its overall objective to set up a functioning network of organizations, experts and committed individuals that will support information and experience sharing, technical knowledge exchange and joint activities in order to promote agroecological practices in Asia.
This will be achieved through four thematic working groups, whose activities will focus on networking, partnership building, multi-sector dialogues especially among producers and consumers, capacity building and empowering youth and new generation farmers, inter-generational learning, and policy advocacy through action-research. These activities will have a multi-level focus, supporting member organization capacity development, national level networking among member organizations, and regional level networking across countries in the Mekong region and Bhutan.
