Well-Being Society scenario: an alternative development path for Thailand?
Thailand Research Fund kindly decided to continue supporting our research over the years 2010-2013. This project is titled The Well-Being Society scenario project. The executing agency on behalf of the School for Wellbeing Studies and Research will be Suan Nguen Mee Ma social enterprise.
In this new project we will explore in more depth the question raised at the end of the first project, the GNH Movement project (2008-2010): Should we aspire in Thailand (and in Asia) to establish a Welfare State or should we envision a Well-Being society?
In order to find a sound response to this question, we have selected a number of focal areas of research which all refer to the challenge of Bridging the Urban-Rural Divide. Bridging this gap is seen as a pre-requisite to bringing about a Well-Being Society.

Vision and Planning Workshop "Well-Being Society scenario: an alternative development path for Thailand?" Thursday 11 November 2010, 08.30 am. – 04.00 pm. at the Conference Room 105, Maha Chulalongkorn Building, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University: In the morning a presentation of Dr. Decharut Sukkumnerd on the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) approach, with discussion and presentation on how we intend to apply this methodology to the Well-Being Society Scenario Project. In the afternoon continued presentations by the researchers of the new project and a discussion on the question how we can shape a participatory process which will engage a diversity of partner organizations, researchers and stakeholders.
